Hi!
I've been using my proxmark with the client version r651 for a while.
I downloaded the last win client version "pm3-bin-0.0.2".
Since that client doesn't support the old usb driver anymore, I performed the bootloader flash as described in the doc: UpdateBootloader.pdf
After that upgrade, I'm supposed to be able to upgrade the OS and FPGA with the new flashing tool... but I can't init PM3 through the COM port.
If I hold the button when plugging the PM3, the new CDC driver loads and I see the PM3 in the COM3 port.
But the time I release the button, the old HID driver loads, and I can only use old client:
proxmark3> hw version
#db# Prox/RFID mark3 RFID instrument
#db# bootrom: svn 0 2014-03-30 07:16:36
#db# os: svn 651 2013-01-31 14:52:31
#db# FPGA image built on 2012/ 1/ 6 at 15:27:56
I'm trying to update the OS with both old flashing tool and the new one without success.
- OLD flash tool: it detects the PM3 with libusb, it starts correctly, then it restarts the PM3 device, then the device appears as COM3 (CDC), so it gets stuck on "Waiting for Proxmark to reappear on USB........." (yellow and red lights are on).
- NEW flash tool: plugging the PM3 with the button pressed, it successfully finds it in the COM3, but it does nothing, no matter if I release the button or I keep it pressed (yellow and red lights are on).
Is a JTAG recovery my only solution?
Thanks a lot in advance!!
Regards,
Luis

Try to flash new OS and FPGA (from r655 and above) using the new flasher while holding the button.

Hi asper!
I tried, the flash tool detects PM3 in COM3, but it does nothing...
no matter if I keep pressing the button or I release it...
I'm gonna try to compile linux flash tool in an another vmware and see what happens...
In my native OSX, I'm able to compile the last version of the client and flash tool without problems, but I'm unable to use it, the proxmark3.kext extension is loaded but PM3 doesn't open any port...
thanks a lot for the reply!

Tests to do to flash new firmwares are 4:
1) flash os/fpga with new flasher holding the button
2) flash os/fpga with new flasher without holding the button
3) flash os/fpga with old flasher holding the button
4) flash os/fpga with old flasher without holding the button
Maybe you tryed them all, if not try and report! If none of those methods work, you should need a jtag. Let me know if you tested all 4 "combos"!
