proxmark3 V3.0 "Easy"

I purchased the "Easy" version due to it being less expensive than the RDV2 and I for what I am needing it for I didn't think the more expensive version was necessary. In my line of work occasionally having LF standalone emulation would be handy for testing purposes. Flashing it with any version of LF firmware doesn't seem work. I wanted to verify that this thing can even do LF standalone? It will do HF standalone just fine btw.

After putting the LF firmware on it, then pressing the button to get LED 3 and 4 lit up. The number 4 LED will dim slightly and then faintly pulse. Passing over any LF tags it will not see them. The LED's do not change.

When connected to the computer and running the GUI console to communicate with the PM3, an "lf search" command yields nothing either. That is with an LF tag laying on top of the LF antenna.

I cannot seem to find near as much information about this PM3 V3.0 unit aside from that it is a cheapened up version intended for the Chinese market? Any help would be appreciated. BTW I hope I chose the correct area for this question.... Thanks again.

Re: proxmark3 V3.0 "Easy"

check firmware version to client version.  You should never mix versions.

Also check hw tune.  Might indicate a poor connection on the lf antenna.  I think some have complained about that connection on some pm3 easy.

Re: proxmark3 V3.0 "Easy"

Am I correct in assuming that to check the firmware version, I would run "hw ver" and the post the results?

I can't find anything that suggests that the V3.0 should be running a specific firmware. It seems everything just suggests to flash the latest firmware. I don't care if it has the latest so much as I care it works.

Re: proxmark3 V3.0 "Easy"

Ok so the Windows GUI application that I was referring to is Proxmark Client By El Gaucho De La Livida Palude. I downloaded a file from www.legacysecuritygroup.com that had several different versions of firmware, a flashing tool that makes things really easy and that GUI proxmark client. I LF firmware that I am using is from that download. Here is the "hw version" command output:

proxmark3> hw version

and the "hw tune" command output:

I don't think it matters when connected via USB but this is with the LF firmware flashed on the unit.

Ok, I might stand corrected... I just flashed the "Stock HF Standalone Bootrom and Fullimage" onto the PM3 and if get different outputs.

Re: proxmark3 V3.0 "Easy"

You appear to be running a mismatched client to firmware with the first output.  The proxmark3.exe you run must be from the same build as the images you flash.

Re: proxmark3 V3.0 "Easy"

marshmellow, I am obviously new to all of this. Really what I am trying to achieve is standalone emulation for LF tags. I install access control systems fairly often and doing diagnostics, it would be handy to be able to emulate specific cards from time to time. I am assuming that the client is what I am calling the Windows GUI console? If so, the client and the firmware came as a bundle but that doesn't mean I am doing it right either. The easy flasher utility is what I am using to get the firmware onto the PM3. First I load the bootrom.elf for LF standalone, then the fullimage.elf for LF standalone. I then plug the PM3 into a portable cell phone charger to test it and this is when the whole LED "D" pulsing thing happens and it won't read any LF tags.

Plugging back into the USB from the computer and connecting up with the Windows client is when I get the outputs that I first posted.

Am I doing something wrong to get the LF standalone mode to function?

Re: proxmark3 V3.0 "Easy"

I am coming to the conclusion that the LF standalone firmware is simply not compatible with the V3.0 HW version.

This is the link to the firmware I have been trying to load:  https://github.com/exploitagency/github-proxmark3-standalone-lf-emulator

I have read another thread that is about a month old where the person was using this same firmware on an RDV2 and although had some initial issues with em410x, his device was working with HID. HID LF tags are really the only thing I care to emulate and it would have to be in standalone mode to handy at all to me. Being that I don't know anything about modifying code or compiling it, it is looking like my solution to this is to just fork over the money for the RDV2.

Re: proxmark3 V3.0 "Easy"

I expect you will have the same issues with that hardware.  The problem likely lies with either the compile, flashing or button press timing.

The pm3 in general isn't for the casual user.
