153KHz tags

I'm new to proxmark and RFID thingies, and i'm still trying to decide between EVO and RDV4...

One of my use cases will be LF Stanley PAC tags, specifically the ones that operate at 153KHz (according to the literature linked below). my target uses the K2010 and STFOB tokens and (amongst other things) this model of reader:

http://www.stanleypac.com/Products/Resource%20Library/GS3/Stanley%20GS3-LF%20Vandal%20Proximity%20Reader.pdf

I have read a comment on this forum that says "[stanley pac tags] don't operate at 153KHz, they operate at 134KHz". I have also read a comment from Marshmallow (on the same thread, i believe) that the PM3 will work at 153KHz (but no comment as to how to make that happen).

I wonder whether that comment (about not being 153KHz) is accurate....

1) Is it just the case that a 134KHz RF field is within the tag's pass band and so "is close enough" to energise the tag AND 153 is close enough to 134 that the proxmark will hear the data?

2) is it the case that the tags are truely 134KHz, and the entire stanleypac.com website (and the brochures) are just plain wrong?

3) as 2, but they are trying security by obscurity?

If the answer is (1), or something close, then is there a possibility that a future version of the proxmark firmware could allow for a command to set a custom frequency? (what if someone released a 143KHz tag!!)

Re: 153KHz tags

To work at 153khz you'll need to build a custom antenna and tune it to the 153khz, and configure the proxmark using lf config to that frequency.

Some pm3 hardware is easier than others to build custom antennas for

I believe these chips DO run at 153khz. (But they have a 125khz version)
