[solved] Unable to read Adafruit 1482 1K

I've been trying to read this tag without any luck. From the website description it seems to just be a Mifare Classic 1K. It's listed as a Mifare Classic on Amazon

Right now I'm using an ACR122U on a kali virtual machine. I can use "nfc-list" to read regular Mifare Classic 1K cards, but I get an error (~unable to open, will update with exact message) when trying to read the Adafruit fob. Does anyone have any experience with this tag? Or know what I could try? Will a Proxmark 3 be able to read it? Thank you.

Oh wow, appreciate that so much! Thanks. Will try mfoc later today. Would it make sense for nfc-list not to see the fob, but mfoc to see it?

I tried nfc-list on an actual machine now, as opposed to a VM and I no longer get any errors, but it's as if I ran the command without any rfid fob on the reader. It does nothing...

Tried running "mfoc -O fob.mfd" on the Adafruit 1482. The output was not good : "mfoc: ERROR: No tag found."

I wonder what's going on...

48bit sounds like Crypto1..

RFID chip specification:

    1 KiloByte (8 KiloBit) non-volatile EEPROM storage
    Built in encryption engine with 48-bit key
    4 Byte unique identifier burned into the chip
    13.56 MHz frequency

OK , It arrived Early. That was great service.
Anyway,
It's a standard MIFARE Classic 1K (32 bit) fob
UID: 4Byte ACF83E0B
SAK: 08
ATQA: 0004

All blocks are empty with the exception of course of block 0 Sector 0
the full block 0 info on mine is:
ACF83E0B61880400C08E3AD651101013

I hope this helps you out.

Read the fob with both MCT on Android and TWN4 on desktop.

Keys A and B are all Default F's
Access on the first 15 blocks is set to FF078069 so standard with block 15 set to FF0780BC

I feel a little dumb. I think I know why I was not able to read the fob. I thought I had an AdaFruit 1482, but in reality I think it was a leather EM4100 like the one here. I'm sorry you purchased the Adafruit tag. I bought one myself and was able to read it with the ACR122 without any issues. I however cannot read the original tag because it's likely 145khz / EM4100. I already purchased a proxmark3 from China.

I'm fairly confident I'll be able to clone the leather tag with the PM3, but this won't arrive in the mail anytime soon. Does anyone have a recommendation on the easiest / cheapest writer/reader that can clone EM4100s and ships from North America? I'd rather not have to wait until I get the PM3 from China. I want to copy the EM4100 onto a T5577. This seems like a very cheap option that doesn't require a computer, but it is also in Asia. This might also work, but I don't like that it's Windows only. I'd like to use something libnfc-compatible, but that seems only compatible with 13.56MHz? Any recommendations?
