Trying to read up on the counter-measures that can be implemented in order to somehow protect against the Mifare vulnerablities, i found out that nxp issued some directions but they are under disclosure. Anyone has any idea generally in what direction they are moving concerning their proposals? Are they only targeting the infrastructure at the backbone of the systems?

From what I understand you mean these documents
Maybe someone could drop them into the upload directory of the files section.
I will move them to the corresponding MIFARE Classic section

Think you are looking for:

Application Note 155110 20 June 2008
Application Note 155120 4 December 2008
Application Note 155121 16 February 2009
Each one issued as a new method of hacking the cards was published.
They do not offer any real viable solutions to the maor security problems with these cards. In many cases the NXP-developed solutions are over-complicated and rely a lot on back-end system montoring and detection, which never really works in practice.

Yes, those documents i was talking about. I was suspecting that the solutions would be over-complicated but thanks for confirming. I guess in nxp they still havent understood secrecy does not suit them
